New Hires with a Professional Certificate from another State will be placed on the salary schedule based on their highest verified degree and may receive up to 20 years of salary credit based on verified prior teaching experience. PGCPS will request a Maryland Certificate for each new hire. The items listed below are needed to award the maximum allowable salary and to request a Maryland Certificate.

New Hires will need to supply a copy of the following documents:

Official Transcripts of all degrees, credits, and grades earned

Verification of Prior Teaching Experience (forms will be supplied from PGCPS)

Copy of teaching certificate

Copy of test scores taken to obtain certificate, if applicable

Note: New hires who do not possess a professional certificate will be placed on the provisional salary lane. Upon completion of all certification requirements, you will be placed on the appropriate salary schedule based on degrees earned and/or awarded.
